Does my mall gift card expire?
If the transaction date is beyond the “valid thru†date on the front of
the card, the transaction will be declined. If the current date is
within 30 days of the “valid thru†date, the customer may take the card
to the mall customer service center where the mall staff may be able to
transfer the available balance transferred to a new card. The customer
may also return the card to BB&T Financial/MidAmerica Gift
Certificate Company for a refund of the available balance.

Which stores accept the mall gift card?
Any mall store that accepts the Discover Card will accept a mall gift card.

How much money can I put on a mall gift card?
Mall gift cards are available in any denomination from $20 to $500 per card.

Can I purchase a mall gift card for someone less than 18 years of age?
Yes, the mall gift card is a fantastic gift for anyone at any age!

Can I purchase an item or service that is more than the amount on my mall gift card?
Yes, simply tell the retailer: The exact available balance on your
mall gift card; Before using the mall gift card, pay the remainder of
the purchase by some other means acceptable to the retailer. If you
don’t tell the retailer before you begin the transaction and you
attempt to make a purchase for more than the amount on the mall gift
card, the transaction will be declined because you do not have enough
money on your mall gift card. Always keep track of the balance on
your mall gift card so that you do not attempt to make purchases for
more than the available balance.

Can I use the card at ATMs or get cash back from my purchases?
No. The mall gift card is not a credit or debt card, so the gift card will have no functionality at an ATM.

How can I find out the remaining balance on my gift card?
There are at least four ways to determine the available balance on your
mall gift card: 1) Present your card to the mall’s Customer Service
staff; 2) Visit www.MyMallGiftCard.com; 3) Check the authorization
number on the receipt on your last mall gift card purchase (the
majority of Discover® merchant will show the available balance as part
of the authorization number; i.e. authorization code 001735 is $17.35
remaining balance); 4) Call 1-800-798-4099 and follow the voice
prompts. The first call each month is free. Subsequent telephone
inquires in the same calendar month will result in a $.25 fee deducted
from the card’s balance.

Can I reload or add funds to my mall gift card?
No.

Does my gift card have a fee?
North Shore Square Mall gift cards are not charged an activation fee; however,
there is a $2.50 monthly maintenance fee starting the 13 month after
purchase.

What if someone steals my mall gift card or uses it without my permission?
You should always safeguard your mall gift card, as you would cash,
credit card or a paper gift certificate. Unfortunately, if you loose
your mall gift card, it is like loosing cash.

Can my lost or stolen mall gift card be replaced?
No. However, if you have the original gift card receipt showing the
initial loaded value and the account number of the lost card, you can
send documentation along with your name and address to BB&T
Financial/MidAmerica Gift Certificate Company for a refund of the card
account’s available balance. The refund amount will be the account’s
available balance when BB&T Financial receives your documentation.
Please allow 6-8 weeks to process your refund.

What if I need to return merchandise that I purchased using a mall gift card?
The retailer’s return policy will dictate the options available. Most
likely the retailer will offer a store credit or a store gift card;
however, in some cases returns may be placed back on the original mall
gift card that was used.

What would cause my purchase with the mall gift card to be declined?
Typically there are only a couple of such circumstances: 1) A
transaction is attempted for an amount greater than the available
balance; 2) The retailer attempting the transaction may not be
recognized as a participating Discover® merchant; 3) The magnetic strip
on the back of the card has been damaged and is not readable by the
retailer’s equipment. In this instance, either return the card to mall
customer service center where the available balance can be transferred
to another card or return the card to BB&T Financial for a refund.
Using my mall gift card at restaurants, hair and nail salons and other
personal service retailers. Most restaurants and salons temporarily add
approximately 20% to your bill to cover the tip. Make Sure your balance
can accommodate the additional 20% or your transaction will be declined.
